Arizona has bought into the charter school scam. What happened since is interesting, we have a class of wealthy charter school operators who run for political office.

That's right, my tax dollars turn people into millionaires to run what is still a public school. They then turn around and become legislators changing regulations to funnel money into the voucher system.

Keep buying the "choice" bit, an industry is laughing at you and cashing their large paychecks while sipping the finest merlot my money can buy them.

Maybe this should teach a lesson to those people who Federalized public education. You won't have YOUR guy there all the time. Keeping local education local may not be an idea now.

There are several articles out there suggesting Betsy Devos wants to propose taking money away from public schooling and re-direct that money for a choice school. (for profit school)

This is concerning and in particular public schools that are labled as title 1 schools. Those schools need this funding and cannot afford to lose the financial support.

Now, if they divert money away from common core programs and re-direct that money for charter/choice schools then that is a better way to spend money for schooling.

As long as there are tests there will be prayer in classrooms.

AFT is REALLY unhappy with this choice.

AFT President Randi Weingarten on Nomination of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education | American Federation of Teachers

There are some great charter schools out there, but a lot of corrupt ones as well. John Oliver did a great piece on this.

We should be dedicated to making our public school system better, not abdicating responsibility.

Conservatives are pretty quiet on this pick. Gee, I'm shocked.
