Obviously trump and the rest of america have a different idea of business success than obama.
Obviously successful businessmen have a different idea of success than Trump.
One thing I don't understand about the people clamoring for a businessman to run the country is why they don't seek out a legitimately respected businessman for the job. There's Warren Buffet. He's built a much larger fortune than Trump and investors actually place some stock in what comes out of his mouth. Bill Gates has obviously established a global empire. Phil Knight amassed a $24 billion fortune from the trunk of his car. Why not him?
Donald Trump is rich, but he's likely not a billionaire. For one, a biographer who Trump once sued obtained financial records from the Trump Organization, and placed his net worth around $150-$250 million. Second, I think the reason he won't release his tax returns is because we'll see he's completely exaggerated his income. Third, why is a guy worth billions of dollars doing these stupid real estate investment courses? That's about as tacky as Jimmy Johnson's Extendz commercials.
The type of person who believes Trump is this super successful dealmaker is the type of person who also believes professional wrestling is real. And probably the type of person who believes that Obama's birth certificate is fake. Or that climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese.
Yes, those who champion moving jobs to lower wage countries are not going to like this.
But the fact is that they ARE moving the lower wage jobs to Mexico. I already posted a link to a report from April announcing Carrier would save 400 of the higher paying jobs. So how many are they really saving because of this new deal? Sure, it is always great when American jobs are being saved, but why is part of the deal allowing Carrier to send more than half of the jobs out of Indiana? I thought Trump campaigned to impose penalties like tariffs and higher taxes on American companies that sent jobs overseas, but now it sounds as if he's just giving them more tax breaks.
If Trump "threatened" Carrier, as some have suggested, that would be a good move, but with what? Carrier already said it can't survive by paying the wages American workers earn. So they must be making up the difference somewhere (maybe from taxpayers?)
Just a side note: it's interesting to look at job creation charts. Bill Clinton is always criticized for trade agreements, but a higher percentage of jobs were created during his 2 terms than in Reagan and both Bush #41 & #43 combined (5 terms) according to several reliable sources.
The average amount of all jobs created during Democratic Presidential terms is 1,748,610 and the average amount during Republican Presidential terms is 880,500.
The average amount of private sector jobs created during Democratic Presidential terms is 1,536,560 and the average amount during Republican Presidential terms is 650,330.
