Well the second sentence is the crux right there. You are correct. We only believe in it when it's convenient, which, when you really think about it, means we don't believe in it at all. Neither do other global powers, making it a sham. Why should Israel be bothered with it, especially given that they are greatly outnumbered by members that would like nothing more than to see them disappear.
