Scrambling for an explanation for Donald Trump’s victory, many in the media and on the left have settled on the idea that his supporters were consumers of “fake news” — gullible rubes living in an alternate reality made Trump president.

To be sure, there is such a thing as actual fake news: Made-up stories built to get Facebook traction before they can be debunked. But that’s not what’s really going on here.

What the left is trying to do is designate anything outside its ideological bubble as suspect on its face....

The alt reality left and msm slant bias news turned a lot of people off. But of course it's always someone else's fault. It's all about silencing opposing thought, specialty of the left.

This is exactly what it is.

Most people can figure out what's fake and what's real, we don't need someone telling us what to think, there are plenty of news sources in America, there's the MSM and there's independent journalists on twitter and youtube, there's plenty of sources to grab news and determine for yourself what's fake and what's not.

Personally, i'd rather get my news from the actual owner of the 'news company' rather than an intermediary, with CNN or the NY Times for example, how can you be sure what they're telling you is how the person telling it to you really feels? They are probably told what to say on many occasions, they are towing the company line and vision of the owners of the network.......twitter and youtube you can go right to the 'owner' of the media, and the great thing about getting news from twitter or youtube is that the person giving the news is the owner of their own brand, they don't have someone 'higher up' telling them what they can say....so, i ask you all, why would you go to CNN to get your news when these 'newspeople' are just employees of a company who tells them what to say? They can't just say anything they want, whereas youtubers or twitter users CAN say what they want, will they always be right? No, but you know what they're saying is how they feel and you also know that their brand will suffer immensely if they post fake news stories, so these twitter news people are really doing the best they can to not tweet falsehoods, and that's what makes getting news from that medium a much better choice.

Good point. This is why many liberals and the media are always saying that Trump should "stop Tweeting" because they know it's such a powerful media and it makes the MSM less relevant or perhaps irrelevant.

If CNN or the other MSM wants to regain trust they are going to have to make efforts . It's arrogant for them to think people should trust them again. Why? Just because they are a big company we should trust them. There was so much corruption during the election , Donna Brazille giving Hillary debate questions, etc.

CNN and others like them have essentially spit in the face of their viewers, including those from the Left. Trump called them out as fake and biased in their coverage, you had so many examples of CNN trying to affect the election in favor of Hillary and then when this came to light, instead of saying 'we are sorry, we were biased, it was bad journalism, we will improve and become unbiaed" but no, they DOUBLED DOWN and got more aggressive, they got 'offended' that they were called out as liars and crooks, i mean, think about how this network was actively working to fix a presidential election, we all know that's what happened.

Now, for those Hillary fans who love CNN, even if they fought for your candidate and you love them for it, they still are liars and feeding you fake news....when this election cycle and inauguration is over and its back to normal, they're still going to be filling your head with nonsense, lies and falsehoods to push their narrative, whatever that narrative may be, so even the staunchest of the left have to take anything they say with a grain of salt, in fact, to me, they're unwatchable and unlistenable, i can't even watch them by accident these days, they're dead to me and anyone with a brain, listening to these people is not going to make a person smarter or more intune with what's happening in the world......twitter and social media is turning these people into dinosaurs, we don't need them anymore.

Except fake news has gained so much traction that some people believe it completely. Which is why a pizza parlor was held at gunpoint today.

There was a lot of fake news that was started by Trump or blatant lies by alt.right and far right websites about Clinton that she was never able to shake off, yet those criticisms could have easily been used on Trump. We voted for him, we are stuck with him and I will be glad the minute he isn't president anymore, especially if he is voted out but I will not be happy for the state our country will be in at that point...

The Demo-rat-tick party considers any news that doesn't follow their PC, socialist, open border, identity politics, America last policies as fake news.

They just can't believe we see right through them and understand their globalist, liberal elitist, Muslim funded ideologies are not in the best interest of our country.

The problem with "Pizza-gate" was that it was completely made up. When the BBC did an article on it, the response was to call the truth a conspiracy. In response, a man showed up at that pizza restaurant that didn't even have a basement, with an assault rifle.

N.C. man told police he went to D.C. pizzeria with assault rifle to ‘self-investigate’ election-related conspiracy theory
