Terrorist set off a bomb in Egypt near a road used by tourists to get to the pyramids. Maybe we should ban travel both to and from terrorists countries.
Sadly, another reminder that it is unsafe for tourists to visit the Great Pyramid of Giza. So many would love to see this Wonder of the World, but the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists are determined to prevent that experience.

Ban? If people want to go there, they can go at their own risk. There has been bombings in Israel too. Should we ban travel there? Of course not. Bombing in Boston? Ban? Nope.
Generally speaking, crimes against tourists are rare in Egypt beyond crimes of opportunity like pick- pocketing that happens everywhere. Nonetheless, when tourists are targeted, it's often spectacular.
I took Egypt off my bucket list in the 90's when extremists attacked tourists at a tomb in Luxor. Dozens of mostly female European tourists were disembowled with machetes.
I have friends who have taken the rare cruise with 1-2 overnight calls on Alexandria. They report that most passengers decline to disembark. Those that do are a part of tour groups where the nominal price of a visa is baked into the cost. The tour bus convoys have armed military police and overhead military helicopter escorts. The good news is there are no long lines for any of the tourist attractions.
Not all that long ago, tourism was a major employer and part of the Egyptian economy. It was about 12% of GDP. There are thousands of terrorism factions with no central leadership that have destroyed the tourism economy. Young men have limited opportunity to earn a living, thus wed or have a family which fuels some of the hate and violence.

Not in Japan or Singapore, for example.
