Andrew Jackson - As a President, he had an overly simplistic concept of how a lot of things worked, and his financial policies were a mess. This said, he was a great soldier. Hindsight being 20.20, He perhaps should have stayed in the army instead of going into politics. How cool is that? He would be universally hailed as an American hero today, instead of a symbol of both the best and worst of that era in this country’s history.
He also owned slaves. How about whites help blacks "get over it" and remove slave masters from currency. It's just paper, right?
While I would've been happy with a number of people, I say great choice! Harriet Tubman, the "Moses of her People," was as brave and bold as any. And a true patriot at that. To those who can't stand having Jackson (note, I was against having Hamilton removed) removed, I don't gloat and respect your view. I am not one of those people who is of the view that Jackson should be removed because of his politics, the fact that he owned slaves, etc. While not things that I agree with, I'm also not in favor of whitewashing history. One of the great things about our country is that, for all of its past and present ills (and which country is without?), we have been able to endure and advance throughout time.
She may be the "Moses of her people", but in terms of influencing and shaping the country for what it is today, wouldn't you agree she's just a foot soldier in the grand scheme of things?
the bill wont even come out until maybe 2020 by then maybe the population has changed- roughly about 18% are over 65-- in 5 yrs they wont even care about money at all

well, with all due respect, I have no ideas how and why my personal opinion about Andrew Jackson leads to a question like this.
This said, I have no problems with Tubman being on the bill. I don't believe Andrew Jackson should be removed because I don't judge a historical figure based on today's moral standard. But this is just me.
I am not a black person and I don't know what white people should do in order to help blacks "get over it".
I don't know many black people, but according to my future brother in law who happens to be a black man, he doesn't think Andrew Jackson should be removed from the currency, either. To each his own.

So are like 20 million other people. We only have so many denominations. Leave it to someone who actually did something big.
She did do something big. Born into slavery, beaten and broken, she displayed a heroic strength of character. 20 million other people didn't do what she did. I really feel sorry for the people who are opposed to honoring her contributions.

I don't feel sorry for the persons who are opposed to honoring her contribution. Contempt it what comes to my mind. That and distrust. I have reason to distrust those who have such an opposition.
