Yes it is. In the 1980 election the Democrats won a sizable majority of the U.S. House and held 27 governors' seats. The Republicans of those days were nowhere near the election-winning powerhouse that is today's Republican party.

Reagan was an unabashed free trader who had sympathy for the illegal aliens of his time. He was a neo-liberal. Trump is closer to a paleo-conservative than anything else. We will have to see if the Republican Party returns to the party of free people, free markets and free trade.

Reagan was a Cold Warrior. Today's Republicans are so blinded by partisanship that they're ignoring the possibility that Russia helped get Trump elected. Reagan would be appalled.
