China attacked our new president on several fronts today calling him childish and impulsive. They threatened to reverse China/US relations and cooperation in various fields. Are we going to tolerate this? What should we do? Should we put nukes in Japan to counter the threat? Economists are warning that a trade war with China would be a disaster for our economy. But can we tolerate them insulting our leaders this way?

They also threatened 20k jobs... our goal has ALWAYS been the same with Trump... take BACK our economy... that is going to **** the Chinese off... you think they are mad now, watch when China goes into their own Great Depression with Trump... China doesn't have it to make threats... you can see through that quite easily... unless you are a liberal... oh, and by the way, there are NO good US/China relations right now,

He's right.

Most of us don't want any kind of war with China.

Trump cannot take away their stature and power in the world by calling them currency manipulators and saying they are bad.

Lightbulb China says our president-elect is "very childish and impulsive". How should we react?

hmmmm...

Maybe by admiring their rationality.

China's real sensitive spot is Taiwan. As long as the US keeps the status quo, I don't think China will really do anything bad.

I understand Mandarin Chinese and have been watching the Chinese political program in the past several days. It looks like the Chinese know that having a direct confrontation with the U.S. will be a losing battle, but it is very obvious they are not afraid of the war, either.

As an American, I believe keeping the status quo and working with the Chinese will be a better solution for all parties involved.

It will be the end for Midwest car manufacturers if this trade war escalates. 26 million cars are sold in China every year, its by far the biggest market in the world and growing very rapidly. No car manufacturer can survive without a strong presence in China. And Midwest farmers will be shut out and replaced with Brazilian farm products in China. The Midwest will not be better off with a trade war with China thats for sure.

Calling China a currency manipulator is akin to the pot calling the kettle, black.

One would think Trump Org would have ceased producing goods in China ( and elsewhere) , when Trump chose to run for president.

China can't afford to do battle with the U.S. They are powerless without our alliance. Spend some time in China and the delicate balance their economy teeters on will soon become apparent. Who cares what they have to say about Trump. They're not entirely incorrect about his personality, but talk is cheap and grown adults know better than to be overly reactive to it. This isn't Chicago gang warfare here.

Honestly....what is China going to do? Stop making our products....good. They aren't going to attack us....that would be a massive mistake. Trump would just call Putin and be like "press the button". Plus, "ohhhh....were really scared if China stops cooperating...." last time I checked things were better for us when we minded our own business and China minded theirs.
