For those on the left who think Trump is a snake oil salesman....
What do you say about this.
Bill Gates is no conservative and certainly not a stupid man.

That didn't sound at all like any endorsement of Trump. I don't know if Gates said anything before the election, but it is well known he is a hardcore liberal and is huge on climate change. He probably at the least absolutely hates Trump's policies. Wouldn't be surprised if he thinks of Trump as a deplorable as well. Gates statement was fairly neutral, " Trump's administration could be good in some ways." Not an exact quote but that is what it sounded like to me.

fyi I voted Trump

He said Trump has the opportunity to be like JFK. Same can be said about any PE.

People need to stop the wishful thinking about Trump. All during the campaign and now into the transition people who should know better have been making excuses about him, saying he did not mean what he said, or trying to explain his bigotry, misogyny and other traits as an act. Even the Chinese were doing it this week. Wake up. Mr. Gates! He is every bit as bad as you fear.

Ray Lewis and Jim Brown met with the President-elect yesterday.

Ray Lewis meets with Donald Trump - Baltimore Sun

Former Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis*met Tuesday with President-elect Donald Trump*to discuss urban development and a program that helps young people caught up in gangs.
*
"Urban development and job creation are everything," Lewis told reporters after the meeting. "What we believe with the Trump administration is if we can combine these two powers of coming together -- forget black or white. Black or white is irrelevant. The bottom line is job creation and economic development in these urban areas to change the whole scheme of what our kids see."

"We couldn't have had a better meeting," Brown said. *"The graciousness, the intelligence, the reception we got was fantastic."

good start. I am hopeful urban job creation will be successful and a priority with Trump. Action, not words, is important. JFK was a start with civil rights almost 60 years ago, but much more needs to be done. Prioritizing quality education and jobs are key.

Did you read the article? His comparison was based on JFK's streamlining the creation of NASA and our space program. The impression I got was that Gates believes that Trump may be able to do the same in the field of energy innovation.

Gates knows he has to compliment Trump since Trump is in power. Trump loves compliments. Gates wants to increase the number of H1B visa holders that can come into the US to work at Microsoft. So do all the other tech companies. That's why they are meeting with Trump. They will kiss up to Trump.

I predict that Trump will eventually increase the volume of H1B visas. Or at minimum, keep them the same. But the GOP has always wanted to increase them so I think Trump goes along with this too. These are the high paying tech jobs. Once the H1B visa holders come into the US to work, most stay forever and eventually get green cards. 600,000+ new ones come into the USA per year now to work various visas with the prior year's 600k mostly staying.

That's 6 million jobs given to foreigners each decade. These are usually jobs paying in the 100,000/year range. Wonder how long until the H1B visa numbers increase.

Sounds to me like Gates is appealing to Trump's vanity.

It should work.

Jobs given to foreigners bc we can't do them.

People forget that convenient fact.
