Are they Americans or not? Do they believe in a free press or not? Do they believe in democracy or not? Makes one wonder.

Trump plans to replace the free press with "Trump TV." He gives direct video messages to the masses, with his makeup just so, and no double chin in sight. "Reports" of the news. Sound much like Big Brother TV to you? "No, citizens. The sky is not blue. It's green. The sky has always been green here in Oceania."

What is happening to the Republicans in this country? First it was the Patriot Act, where they hand over their freedom from government secret surveillance with no legal oversight, no questions asked....to trying to stop the free press from reporting unfavorable news or showing pics not approved by the government. What has happened to them? Have they lost their minds?

I'd like to imagine that you're right, that American citizens wouldn't stand for the disappearance of a free press. But it seems to me that these days Americans are most interested in a literally "FREE" press, one that they pay nothing for. If they're not willing to fork over money to, for instance, pay for the New York Times which, whether or not you think they're left-leaning, really does the hard investigative work and tough analysis that most outlets don't - if people don't support sources like that, that's when solid journalism dies off.

Hopefully, yes.

The Media is not so sacred as to be beyond reproach.

A "free press" is free of bias, not laden with agenda-driven propaganda and disinformation.

However it isn't free press, it's controlled by the elites in this country. This election is the battle of the old rich elites vs new money elites.

You seem to miss the whole point. No one is going to shut down any TV networks or newspapers. They are free to print or say whatever they want.

However, when what they print or say is biased, the people have a right to call them out on it. Also, no one is being forced to read or listen to what is being said by the so-called mainstream media. During Obama's presidency, the media handled him with kid gloves. The same thing happened with Hillary. Again, no one is going to stop anyone from airing bias and slanted items.

If the mainstream media insists on being biased and left leaning, they are going to lose viewers/readers because what they write/say comes off as propaganda. It's been a long time since they have been unbiased and strictly reported the news---no matter if it was bad for the democrats or the republicans.

As for Trump "falsely looking younger". Hillary did the same thing. You are naive if you think otherwise. We all know that those who appear on film wear makeup in some form. So, what is your objection to that?

Show me where Trump said he "plans to replace the free press". I'll wait. Because we do have freedom of speech, anyone is free to start up their own network.

Just a distraction of Trump's incompetence and illegitimacy as President.

Until the media wakes-up and takes some responsibility for their own role in filling-up the D.C. 'swamp,' they will become increasingly irrelevant to most of America. The irony is that the media needs Trump; Trump doesn't need the media. We live in an age when online networks make the news available almost as soon as it occurs. And, as long as the media keeps automatically trashing everything Trump says and does, he will likely continue to take his message directly to the people.

Consider the precedent Obama set in bypassing congress with his pen and phone. Pretty soon, most of America began to consider congress irrelevant. The same thing is happening to the media now - with Trump refusing to play the traditional President/Media role.
So what then is Bretibart, the go-to for so many hateful right wingers?

Good grief. Again. Can't right-wingers AT LEAST admit that both rightwing and leftwing media mouthpieces are operative at all times?

And seeking to suppress is the best and most obvious way to shut down. Baby Trump has acted out nastily on nearly everything he takes offense at and has attempted to discredit reporters. Are you living in a hole?

Where did I say otherwise? Where did I not admit that there are sources that are biased to the right?

The mainstream media is biased to the left.

Are you living in a hole? What should Trump do when false stories are printed about him? You have to admit that during the campaign, the mainstream media handled Hillary with kid gloves while Trump was treated in the opposite fashion.

It's about time someone called out the mainstream media. "Baby Trump" ----awwww, aren't you cute/sarcasm.

Do I love everything that comes out of his mouth? Answer: no. However, I do applaud him for standing up to the mainstream media.

It's a shame that the mainstream media became so biased. I remember when they just reported the news and didn't pick and choose what to cover if it didn't suit the narrative that they were trying to push.

BTW, I'm not a "right-winger". I'm a centrist who leans to the right. I don't vote the straight "R" or "D" line. Nor am I a member of the RNC. The last time, after the '12 election, the RNC called us and wanted us to join. Not only did I not join but I gave them an earful. Neither party is looking out for Americans. Stereotype much, do you?

Yeah, it's unfair because the media never assaults Trump...

"assaulting the media"

The so-called media FIRED the first shot.

If you can't take it, don't dish it out!
