My son has an awesome job now because of his ability to write and research which he learned taking liberal art classes. His interest rates are enormous though. He is on the 10 plan to pay them off
Writing and researching is standard fare for engineers, not sure why lib arts emphasize that in their curriculum.
Maureen Dowd didn't actually write what the OP quoted, Dowd quoted another columnist who actually wrote it.

huh? "snowflake" has been used forever to describe somebody emotionally fragile and without the ability to cope with the real world without being coddled
I think the origin of the word snowflakes actually came inside liberal circles, in my recollection at least in pop culture people obsessed over being different then you start seeing posters and t-shirts, (this was prior to internet memes) with snowflakes and something that said if all the snowflakes are different then they are all the same, something to that effect. Then dbag conservatives started using it the way you are describing.

I would think so. My first had experience is in engineering.
My point is that research and writing are part of the working lives of others. The fact that the liberal arts "educational establishment" sells it to their students as being unique to the liberal arts, in my opinion, borders on being a scam.
Never thought I would ever see a column like the below from liberal NYT columnist Maureen Dowd. It is so right on!
The most amazing part of this well written piece is the fact Maureen Dowd, a very liberal columnist from the New York Times wrote it!
