Hey, here's an idea. How about starting at midnight tonight (Eastern Time, so our watches are synchronized), we all agree to stop arguing over politics? I love a good political slug-fest as much as the next person here, but it's Christmas Eve, the beginning of Hanukkah, and the beginning of Kwanza over the next few days. Would a 72 hour moratorium on political arguments be too much to ask?
I'm a Christian, so I'm going to say Merry Christmas to all. The response of "Happy Hanukkah" or "Happy Kwanza" is more than welcomed. "Happy Festivus" for the rest of us, too!
Does that mean if we're bored at home we can't post anything? Certainly not. But why not post positive statements for the three days in honor of those three holidays? Each person honoring the holiday they celebrate.
Here's my favorite version of my favorite Christmas song. I makes me think of walking the streets of downtown Manhattan, through the snow in my wing-tips, smelling those chestnuts as I walk by the vendor carts, to take the train home from my Wall St. job. A business I no longer work in, but I look back fondly on the experience I had. How about we fill this thread with videos or stories that make you smile during the holidays, hmm? Sounds like a better plan to me, but it's up to you.
I don't know, lol. The thread may sink like a stone. But I'll start. If I had to say something positive about Democrats I'd have to say this.
Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren support one thing I can wholeheartedly agree with. The reinstatement of Glass-Steagall. It's why I left Wall Street when I did. Because the repeal of it took something that while it did involve SOME gambling, was still fairly scientific, and just turned the markets into a giant casino. Nothing made sense anymore, and to be honest I realized there was more skill involved with going to Atlantic City than there was trading stocks. While it has leveled out some now, it still doesn't make much sense. That is why I agree with them on this one thing, completely. I think we need to put it back exactly as it was.
So there ya have it. I don't completely disagree with all Democrats.
This won't work for me because the holidays don't mean anything to me. Every year I get more and more depressed but it's a nice thought for a thread. It might work for most people.
