Funny how every local store sells mostly cheap booze though.

Weird. I'm within the demographic described, and I don't drink like that nor do I know anyone who does...at least I don't think I do. Raised in a heavily-Methodist community, though, so that might have something to do with it. (Methodists are tee-totalers.) Also married a non-drinker. I'd much rather have an herbal tea to relax in the evening before bed.

Cisgender (often abbreviated to simply cis) is a term for people who have a gender identity that matches the sex that they were assigned at birth. Cisgender may also be defined as those who have "a gender identity or perform a gender role society considers appropriate for one's sex."

------------------------------------------

Short for cis-gendered, meaning someone who identifies with the sex they were born as. Typically used by whiny tumblr users who complain about not being accepted for who they are and yet bash these "cis" people for being born and being okay with the sex they were born with.

I am a female to male transgender and I hate white straight cis men.

You're a f**king white cis male! You can't talk about LGBTQ+ issues!

Also see cis privilege, cishetero, cis fragility

Not buying it. The people dying at younger ages are poor or working class. If some middle aged gals like their red wine (white wine is so lowbrow) let them have it. Professional women bingeing with shots at the bar like frat partiers? Lost cause.

Yet another side-effect of the awful low-wage/part-time Obama economy. I'm not surprised drug use/abuse is up with so much economic misery and poverty And as the OP points out, now apparently white women are drinking too much.

I've also noticed an increase in stories about drug abuse in the news, all of this seems to "conveniently" coincide with Obama's presidency and the lousy state of the economy due to his policies I don't recall drug abuse/alcoholism being as bad under either Bush or Clinton (ie. people actually had money/good jobs/houses and thus they were less stressed).

Another thing that contributes to drug abuse (but that doesn't get talked about much) is loneliness/social isolation. White women as a group tend to get married later in life or not at all (in the case of feminist types), this has a psychological effect on them and pre-disposes them to "coping" behaviors/drugs/alcohol.

Even so, i maintain that all this rise in drug abuse/alcoholism is MAINLY related to the Obama economy

People who are doing well financially/socially have little reason to drink excessively.... things like drinking are mainly a response to sadness, loneliness, depression, or poverty/poor finances. And poverty is the BIG elephant in the room under Obama

A male born as such who is heterosexual.

A female born as such who is heterosexual.

You know, what used to be considered the norm.

One drink a month is pretty clear not a non-drinker. I think that standard might even be too high. When I was a non-drinker (for ~5 years after college), probably the most drinks I had in a year was 2.
Notice that the majority of women from other races and ethnicities in the study are not drinkers by the 12 drink standard.

You might be on to something. This likely does lead to more social and binge drinking in college (just because of the different social dynamics where women are more likely to hang out and drink in groups without men), which, in turn, leads to more drinking among college educated women later in life.
