They want to allow this type of insanity in the military as well.

One rule for all, or no rule at all. Not sure why is this such a foreign concept for some folks?

The idea of wearing a uniform is that everyone is dressed the same; their clothes are uniform to each other. I know brightly colored hair and certain makeup are also forbidden, as is the wearing of most jewelry in the military at least.

If you don't want to follow these rules, why join the police force or the military?
NYPD is one of those forces that focuses a lot on "community policing". This of course creates racist hiring policies that have them targeting specific races for recruitment (they openly do this) to achieve quotas. They don't seem to care if they'd be good cops. They only care that they meet whatever racist criteria they believe will make them a good fit for the neighborhood they plan to stick them in.

The whole idea is insane. People need to stop expecting the police to be their best friends. That's not what they're there for.

I think any outstanding police officers know there are sacrifices involved.

Okay cool. I think that Christian cops should not be allowed to wear a cross necklace. Cool? Cool.

Yeah, I agree.

One rule for all, or no rule at all. Wear the uniform, just like everybody else.

Sacrifice of religion? Hmmm. Don't think so.

I've never seen one that does. They could wear a pentagram under their uniform for all I care, but no serious cop wears a piece of jewelry that can be grabbed in an altercation.

well, uniform has nothing to do with religion. You don't have to abandon your religion in order to join the police force or the military.

Sure they do. The bottom line is we need good cops. It makes no sense to turn away good cops based on an arbitrary dress code that violates their religious practices.
