On the other hand, I'll take that over this kind of thing any day of the week.

It's even worse than that. Whistle blowing is supposed to be a protected act.

Maybe you can point out where someone was sentenced to 3 years in prison for insulting the president, the jails would be full from the last 16 years alone.

I don't recall any whistel blowers going to jail unless you're calling Snowdon a whistle blower. If you want to see real silencing of the press then you need to read up on Russia they silence the press alright, for good.

Yes, you don't talk bad about Putin and go unpunished. Trump and the people his swooners to him have no idea what kind of guy they are getting in bed with.

Some "whistleblowers" are in prison for stealing information and lying to FBI, and threatening federal officers, but none for insulting Obama.

As others have pointed out:

Russia News.Net - Kazakh Jailed For Anti-Putin Facebook Posts
A Kazakh court has sentenced a man to three years in prison for posting critical social-media comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Prosecutors in the city of Aqtobe on December 27 found businessman Sanat Dosov guilty of 'inciting social discord' and sentenced him to serve in a penal colony based on Facebook posts he had made from July 2014 to March 2016.
You fell for the fake news that posted Putin's mug to give a false impression he was directly involved.

Boy, that Putin is such a strong leader! Obama should take some lessons from him!

Comrade! You must do better at supporting Mother Russia and Fearless Leader Vladimir Putin!

Accurately reporting the the story as Kazakhstan is a reflection. I suppose reflections may not be too kind to some people. Funny how one can look all around the world for this sort of thing while the left in this country assumes culture doesn't matter. They don't have a Bill of Rights in Asia.

However there are some things that hit closer to home and far more relevant.

Gary Stein, a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, learned Wednesday that he will be discharged from the military for his online comments criticizing the Obama administration.
That is probably far more relevant to talk about.
