Somebody is voting these people in. If the citizens of California don't take a stand, what can the rest of us do? I have family members still there and they just think their living in a state that is more diverse than any other state and willing to help the less fortunate. While ignoring they're the working poor complaining about Trump being elected.

Maybe not yet, but federal immigration laws WILL actually be enforced under the incoming Admin.

Would YOU be willing to go to prison for 5+ years to protect illegal aliens? Is prison orange YOUR color?

Levy the fine but jailing 3 million people in CA for an infraction is impractical.

Let's deport the violent felons and drug dealers and put everyone else on a path to permanent legal status. Amnesty is the best route.

That's the only solution that will work for the overwhelming supermajority of Californians. The notion of tearing apart families will not work and the governor, his administration, the state legislature, local governments almost unanymously vow to stand with Californians, not mass deportation.

Mind you, Trump himself has backpeddled since election day, but we must remain vigilant.

So you advocate "amnesty". Just a slap in the face to the decent immigrants who paid the fees and did it legally. Many had to wait years for their citizenship. You just want to lower the standards.

The Only reason it has not happen in he 8 years of Obama is Holder and then Lynch would not prosecute.

Put it this way Holder did not pursue the charges for a group of Black Panthers that were illegally intimidating voters in Philly. The salt to the would they never (BP) never showed up to court and Holder did not pursue them for content of court!

Technically speaking these gentlemen are Fugitives and the US Marshalls should of arrested them.

This has been the standard of Law Enforcement for Obama and his crew!

The NEW AG and a revamped FBI these matters will be looked closer and prosecuted.

I hear you and largely agree but we need to be practical about this. It is in our best interest to keep them and allow them to work, raise their families and increase their contribution to the fabric of this state.

So by all means, toss out the violent felons and drug dealers, and secure our border, absolutely, but it's not realistic to think that millions of otherwise law abiding people who work, own homes, have families and lives here need to go because they don't have legal residency. Let them pay a fine and stay.

You really think endorsing lawlessness is the path? Yu are practically approving of open borders. If we lower the standards and even if give these Illegals a work status , not citizenship. Our borders will be strained even more than they are now.

Even if we do what you suggest, do you really think they come out od the shadows? these Good people you think has committed ID theft, applied for benefits, we educated their Illegal Kids.

The US Visa/Passport and work permits are clear. If you time elapse go home or be arrested. Many countries not only enforce their laws they make it required for the visitor to report to the local Police Deportment and they must check in. Mexico has strict rules and you will be locked in their Big HOUSE!
Not a very nice place!

This was to be stop dead. Then we can have a reformed Immigration policy.

At the very least we agree on the criminal element.

Pay a fine? Do you know how long and expensive the Citizenship process is? From what I have read most advocates of immigration "reform" are just focused on making sure the criminal elements are ferreted out and forced to return to their home countries. If they are all given "sanctuary" how are you going to catch them and make this immigrant to citizen a fair process?

We gave amnesty to 3 million illegals in 1986, and all it did was encourage more illegal immigration.

There should be no amnesty.

And there need be no mass roundups.

Instead, just deport them as you catch them.

And countries that won't take them back should have their passport and visa privileges for travel to the U.S. revoked.

The notion of tearing apart families will not work
Nobody minds that we "tear apart" the families of U.S. citizens who are convicted of crimes and sent to prison.

Sorry, the crocodile tears for the illegals will not work.

If they're so concerned about their families, they can take them with them back to the mother country.
