I'm not sure it's advisable to buy in ND on the strength of a low-paying call center job. Call centers are notorious for closing up shop or moving elsewhere. I guess you got your answer, OP -- it doesn't seem to bother people that there are $13 an hour call center jobs in ND.

Just the thought of living in ND is depressing.

Why would anyone, anywhere, liberal or not, be bothered by someone having a job & being able to have a home? That the OP thinks it would bother people smacks of... well, you know.

Not bother 'people.' Liberals. For some odd reason, the OP thinks liberals are bothered by people living in ND in a row house.

Even odder--the OP believes that is 'living better.'

Whatever...

Gross Pay $115,000 in San Francisco after tax $72,000 net
Gross Pay $56,000 in Fargo after tax $42,000 net

18 years of net annual pay in San Francisco to purchase a home
4 years of net annual pay in Fargo to purchase a home.

I guess a Fargo median wage earning household would have to pay 4 years of net-wages to afford a home as opposed to 18 years in San Francisco.
What is your point here? I can't even see why this is in the POC forum.

It's a matter of personal preference. SOME might wish to live in Fargo making less. SOME might wish to live in SF even with the higher cost of living.

And?

Nope.

What a silly question. Why would it "bother" them? It doesn't affect them at all. As a former and future resident of California, with many friends in both LA and the Bay Area, I can tell you without hesitation that if anyone living there really thought that they could be living "a better life" in North Dakota, they would move. The reason they live in California is because they know how much life sucks in wastelands like the Dakotas, and they're willing to pay what it takes to live a better life in California.

Where do you guys come up with this crap?

I can't imagine why it would bother anyone. Nobody is stopping anybody from moving, in either direction, if they want to.

A job at a call center/ Naw, no thanks, I like to get my hands dirty.

To be honest though, concerning which party leaning affiliate might think about someone getting alot of money for nothing, I would think it would be the conservatives. I read an article about some business man decided to give everyone a straight, 70,000 annual salary, and it was the working conservatives that were all pissed because little Suzy who had been working there for about a year was now making as much money as they who have been working there for 10 years.
