You are saying that. I have no problem with. My philosophy is simple. Treat others as you wish to be treated.
I enjoy a certain degree of diversity.
Do I really want (in my very small neighborhood of less than 50 houses) a wide variance in home prices and the like? Nope. We want to protect our home values.
So, in this neighborhood, we have people from a wide variety of racial/ethnic backgrounds (breakdown resembles that of the general population, basically), but we are not likely to have a wide variety of people from different socioeconomic backgrounds. For obvious reasons.
Certainly not because nobody here LIKES people of different socioeconomic backgrounds.

OP, did you miss the part where they were black? Obviously they hold no objections in living near people different from them racially. And is there a president alive (including the elect) that did not preach diversity?
Did it occur to you that these people have a ton of money and can live wherever they want, and that fractional 1% neighborhoods are generally majority white (whether anybody likes it or not)?
Obama is renting a home next to John podesta.. seems Obama wanted to be close to the Hillary crowd when they got elected. Problem is they didn't get elected. Obama is renting and is just down the street from Washington White White house of which is will no longer have any input.
I guess both Obama and Clinton don't enjoy buying homes in the diverse neighborhoods that they preach are good for everyone.
I guess limosine liberals like the Obama's and Clinton's love diversity as long as they don't live around it.
Michelle Obama loves giving speeches about the "richness of diversity" but it seems like she had no objection to buying a house in a city that is 88% white.
If diversity is so rich to Michelle Obama why does she like to buy homes in 88% white areas. I guess despite her emotional, emmy-award winning speeches she likes to ignore her own words and then buy a house in some of the least diverse places in the country.

So what? Hillary's loss hasn't changed his mind it seems.
Don't flatter yourself. They might live around white people, but the people they'll be living around don't want YOU in the neighborhood.
Just a reminder.
Not really. My kids went to one of those boarding schools that costs more than most people make. I use to live in kind of a snobby neighborhood and my not fully accepting what I considered the shallow values of some of my neighbors helped make my decision to head to the rural countryside all the easier. Now my neighbors might be rich, they might be poor, or anything in-between. I find the economic diversity much more real and the people far more down to earth.

I'll say this one more time. The Obamas are staying in Washington until the younger daughter finishes high school. Their staying in DC has nothing to do with being near democrats. I am sure they can't get out of town fast enough.
Looks like Ivanka and Obama will be neighbors. I just heard (not confirmed) that she's chosen a house 2 blocks from Obama in the Kalorama neighborhood.
