Still spinning I see. The possiblies, maybes, could-bes of what might have happened "had Ford gone through with their plan" are speculation, not facts.

Heard Trump was going to bring back the assembly line next haha. That's nice though. Ford should make their cars in the US. They keep touting their new automation technology. Build the high tech factories here.

They do? That is just a stupid partisan statement if there ever was one. Automation means profit. Profit drives business decisions. There is no Dem/Rep to it whatsoever. And those robots will be built and maintained by other robots. Humans are quickly rendering themselves superfluous.

Better yet, why not train Americans to fill specific needs?

If trump turns the midwest into solid red states and does something about illegal immigration and voter fraud, the democrats are cooked.

But I will say it is cute to see the union hating RW getting all gushy about UAW jobs.
I never buy a union-made car.
And you're right: it IS a close call as to who I would prefer to have these jobs. But the UAW workers in America win out over the Mexicans, by a nose.

Small point.

700 jobs... Poof is 300 in 2022 due to automation.
300 jobs in MI is better than 300 jobs in Mexico. That 300 jobs supports many local firms from steel suppliers to trades to the lady that sells them their lunch.

He's not even President yet, but he's lost 700,000 jobs already??
Huh.

Right?

Of course if Trump suddenly starting trumpeting creating solar energy jobs, well, I bet that that tune would change really fast.

People are so funny.
Ignore the actual jobs that have been created because they are in an industry that they prefer to demonize while gushing over jobs yet to materialize.

Again, whatever.
Of course those green energy jobs are not a win for America. A win for the workers, but not America.
The subsidies we pay for green energy are astronomical. To say nothing of the added cost of the energy itself, which is often three or four times the cost of "non green" energy.

The point went over your head.

So if you believe that robots will destroy millions of low skill jobs in the near future (in a manner unlike the past where new technology opens new avenues for new jobs), why should our immigration system take in hundreds of thousands of low skill adults legally and illegally every year?
