So much for Trump and his magic job-saving tweets.

I'm a very devout Republican, yet I can't blame Obama for this. Macy's made the mistake of rebranding all of their "legacy" regional nameplates (Kauffman's, Hecht's, Famous Barr, The Jones Store, Burdines, Lazarus, etc.) to the Macy's nameplate. That took away any regional pride those stores may have had. Macy's is also tied at the hip to many dying malls (thanks to massively long lease agreements). Macy's is a mess due to inept management.

I don't blame this on obama. brick & mortar stores have been on a downhill slide for awhile now.

But this would have happened to Macy's anyway. People just don't want to shop there anymore.

Fear? I thought Trump was creating the opposite, or at least that's what his followers say every time there is positive news.

Negative news = Obama induced pessimism
Positive news = Trump induced optimism

Unfortunately you can't have it both ways.

Companies make business moves all the time. Ford made a decision, and so did Macy's.

Wouldn't previous years lead up to this? Oh well . I hope the best to those effected with the layoffs.
