When I was in school a 14 year old classmate was having sex with a 34 year old woman on a regular basis. We were so envious of this classmate.
The point is that most male teens do not get damaged by having sex with an adult female. In fact, most teen boys would welcome that opportunity. I am not saying it is correct and I do not approve, but it is what it is.
A teen female is different and any adult male that touches her should go to jail.

If you son gets screwed up emotionally or has trouble with intimate relationships in his future, you as a parent are suppose to prevent harm coming to him, as best you can. Heck he could get a permanent STD that could damage his health or eventually take his life. Most children have little clue as to the dangers involved with sexual activity, hence another reason for the age of consent in our society.
To boil it all down to monetary worries about child support, and ignoring all the other potential negative consequences, makes you seem very shallow and/or naive (no personal offense intended).
Are these not real dangers even when teens have sex within legal boundaries?
Yeah, damn those stereotypes. By now everyone should know men and women are EXACTLY the same and there are no differences between them whatsoever.
Honestly, by now most people should know that women enjoy sex just as much as men do, that women seek out sex just as much as men do and think about it nearly as much as men do.

I think it depends on the age there are girls that are 17 that actively pursue older men they know exactly what they're doing there is a case in my city right now involving that type of situation. Some girls are are becoming sexually active at a very young age now sadly so it only stands to reason by the time they're 17 they're ready to move on to older guys and they're knowledgeable enough to be the aggressor. I think a lot of the time it's girls with daddy issues but that's a whole other subject. In the case of a 13 year old that's different there's always something fishy going on. I think we can all agree if this was a man and a 13 year old girl the sentencing would be a lot harsher.
well, Roman Polanski's Victim Samantha Geimer said to news reporter that she was not traumatized; she moved on and she doesn't view herself as a victim, nor does she view Roman Polanski a monster.
That doesn't mean what Roman Polanski did is acceptable.
He drugged and sodomized her. Obviously she was/is a victim, she did what she had to do to survive the trauma, by letting it go, forgiving or whatever - because it was so traumatic.

Many of these issues can crop up even in that type of relationship but there isn't a power issue to contend with nor is there a maturity issue. Two teens are equal in intellect, emotional maturity etc.

The point is just because she doesn't consider him a monster, doesn't mean he is not one.
