I would have been okay with house arrest in some criminal cases, but that doesn't guarantee that her daughter's boyfriend or other children wouldn't visit and that she wouldn't do the same with them.
House arrest never guarantees anything. A sentence that institutes the 20 year sentence if caught would most likely be pretty secure.
I guess the judge was trying to be compassionate, but seriously this is sick stuff.
Outrageous. How old was the girl? Maybe a girl of 17 would be viewed differently. To me, sex with a 13-year-old makes you a pedophile, though I agree, all of these people are sick.

If you're having sex with a 13-year-old, you're a pedophile and should get more than probation.
In multiple places it states the boy was 13, so it wasn't a typo. I quoted the text because it showed that she was very well aware of his age and she wanted to have sex with him because he was a developed 13 y/o. She was more than 3x his age.

Sorry for the confusion, Shadowne. The 17-year-old is in reference to Texan2Yankee's post about a former friend who was only given probation for having sex with a teenaged girl. I wondered if she was 17. Not that it would excuse the light sentencing, but if the teacher was a man in his mid-twenties you can almost see that happening without him being a pedophile. No question this woman is a pedophile with a 13-year-old boy, and you're right, she knew how old he was.

Slightly off topic, but true equality between men and women, cannot happen when women are punished less severely than a man would be in the same situation. A lifetime of good deeds should not ever make up for the fact that this woman raped a child.

Agreed since 13 years old IS "pedo" territory AND that teacher is in a position of power. Tho when I was 16; there were a couple of teacher's I would've "knocked boots with" if things went that way.
When I was 13 I had sex with my gorgeous and long legged 26 years old teacher. It was absolutely great and I fun. I never felt myself as a victim. Actually I was proud.
