I hunt hogs, bobcats, coyotes and lions with mine. I wish it was full auto for the hogs!!!!, like my BAR and my Trench-broom are(too much firepower/not enough firepower for hogs)
The M1 Garrand of WW2 and The Forgotten War, used a clip.
What is dangerous about not knowing about a gun I dont currently own? You make no sense. Did I say I wouldnt bother learning after buying? Likely I will take a CC course.
It screams, you are not really in the market, but blurted it without thinking, to establish cred.... That you lost long ago.
I dont grasp the desire to own a military syle weapon . It seems a little like wanting to play soldier to me. I have never had any problems getting deer with a bolt or lever action rifle. I think Bushmaster tipped off the primary reason for people wanting one with their ad campaign about "get your man card back".
Having said that, the topic of the thread is about why people call the AR15 a military style weapon. It is because that is what it is.
Militia = Civilian Organized Military, trained in domestic gorilla warfare.
The AR15 is a clone of the military assault rifle, and is called a semi auto assault rifle by the US government itself. Furthermore, having high capacity clips serve no sporting purpose. I hunt and own guns. I have a 12 ga., a 30/30 lever action, and am in the market now for a.40 cal semi auto pistol.
But why call it anything other than what it is? A military style rifle marketed to those who, as Bushmaster famously said, want to get their man card back.

Says you. I disagree and if you come help me on Hog duty, I will make a believer out of you so then you can sit there with experience and lie and say I do not have a purpose for a high capacity "clip"(LOL)
What caught my eye and is troubling is, he said he was " in the market now for a.40 cal semi auto pistol." Then said, "Dont own a semi auto, nor bother reading up on them."
Danger-Danger Will Robinson
Probably end up shooting himself & if he survives he'll decide that pistol should be banned because it's dangerous .
Nothing new about that term. An AR-15 is not an assault rifle, but it is military style. So what?
They spend so much time defending things like the term "clip" which many older military NCOs continued to use even after being rearmed with detachable magazine equipped weapons and defending the exact definition of "assault" that makes it through the legislature so that they can win by using the letter of the law to thwart the intent of the law. Doing things like having a thin slice of wood extending from the bottom of the pistol grip to the butt stock. Since "style" can't be encoded in law in falls like pornography in a I know it if I see it standard of the presiding judge hearing a case.
