No it isn't.

I live in the Houston metro and, except for one year living in two different mountain towns, where I lived (irrespective of traveling) was always either in the SF Bay Area or LA/OC. I've also driven (a regular car) in all of the 40 largest cities in the United States. IME, the traffic is worse in both the SF Bay Area and LA/OC than in Houston.

Not every area in CA has traffic congestion.

You're living in fantasy land if you believe that is a normal price in Florida. Look at median home prices this month in Florida. Upstate NY is far, far cheaper and wages are higher. Thats a fact.

Thanks for the chuckle. You didn't say how old you are, but I'm guessing it's been a while since you were in grammar school.

Guess I've been on City-Data too long, but anyone remember this thread?

Ahh saratoga county... Where you can buy a rehab house for 180 needing foundation and/or roof work and pay over 5k a year in taxes...

It's no bargain in upstate ny... Prices may be dropping from everyone fleeing

I know for a fact from beacon to ballston spa, any house in NY comparable to what my sister has is a 200-250k dollar house all day long when I left that socialist hell hole.

House I'm set to buy is 3600 sq ft has a 3 car garage on a little over half an acre with a screened in pool, in PSL for 218k.
The one I'm looking at in Ockeechobee is 2800 sqft 140k on 5 acres with a pool.

Those houses in NY are 300-600k especially near global foundry in Malta

That wasn't my point. Go back and read the post to which I was responding. I realize Los Angeles is always listed as the most congested city in the country. By the way, Los Angeles has about 1.7 million more people than Houston.

I have to laugh at the remark that Florida probably has better public schools. The Florida educational system constantly ranks near the bottom and 40% of new teachers leave either the profession or to another state within 5 years. All the retired people don't see the need for them to pay for a decent educational system once they get here. Same reason there is a state trooper shortage; Florida has the lowest pay in the nation.

MEDIAN price of a home in Binghampton is $110k, one of the lowest in the country. Upstate NY is definitely much cheaper than FL overall. No question. And home owners insurance is very high in FL. Highest in the country.
