Do you really believe that the Exxon Valdez horror oil spill did not give the corporation reason to bull **** the public. OMG...there is still residuals from that ****. But anyway what is your point? There is always pushback when privatization has its way. People such as Ted Turner realized this and made a major non-self serving contribution but that is not par for the course.

Rich people and corporations fund a ton of stuff for public use, conservation, etc.

edited--- not worth the debate.

PBS and NPR are valuable and hope their funding doesn't get cut.

they'res plenty of progressive brainwashing on the disney channel and nickelodeon that gets good ratings and is supported by people paying cable bills.. they can merge the most important programming with these channels and send the rest to Nat Geo or one of the science channels or MSNBC. I'm actually a progressive myself it just bothers me how closed minded and cult-like other progressives are.. they think they can use popular media as a form of brainwashing. I guess it's human nature when too many like minded people get too much power or influence, they seek to censor anyone who doesn't think like them. Real open mindedness and tolerance for all points of view is rare.. everyone is biased by their belief systems.

NPR also has some great jazz stations, giving a much needed outlet to a truly American art form but hell, let's buy more nukes and send more $$$ to other countries, no need to preserve part of our heritage.

Maybe Donny'll start on the Smithsonian next.

Is jazz going to suddenly die if NPR loses 5% of its operating revenue? Can't you jazz lovers make up that 5% ?
