On the contrary, I think they helped push away moderate Democratic voters. Look at teachers. BLM went 'open season' on teachers, accusing them of being representatives of the "white supremacist educational system", of being "culturally insensitive" for suspending trouble making kids, demanded the power to fire teachers they disagreed with, etc. Teachers, like farmers and blue collar workers, are the bread & butter of the party. In this election cycle though, they rejected the hate & paranoia of BLM and started voting Republican because they'd had enough. Amazing as it may seem, but 1 in 3 NEA members (teachers union) voted Trump in 2016. In 2012 that would have been unthinkable.

Radical chic. Certain types of white people get a rush embracing angry blacks. It makes them feel righteous, hip, dangerous, or whatever. And there is a lot of overlap between these folks and Democratic Party activists.

Peaceful protests, ala MLK, are effective. They include no looting, no setting fires, no chants of
