Even though Reagan helped bring down the Soviet Empire, he changed US military tactics where US wont invade, but support small conflicts, or help resistance such as in Afghanistan against the Soviets. Ronald Reagan also saw increasing rise of income inequality. Under Reagan, liberal cities like NYC, DC slowly began to flourish again and now today these cities are on zenith of economic and political power. But now lets look at Reaganomics, or trickle down economics, where money is supposed to go down to those on the bottom. Also under Ronald Reagan we saw increased lobbying, growing special interest, growth in media dominance and control. Also we saw the rise of the establishment class under Ronald Reagan. This never happened, and every other president followed the same system. Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, and Obama are all Reaganist. Republicans in America and even progressive democrats are both tired of Reaganism and wanted an alternative candidate so that American can go elsewhere, this lead to the rise of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. If Hillary was elected as President. It would add an additional four more years of Neoliberal policies and an extension of Reaganism to America. A total of 40 years spanning two generations of Americans who are suffering. With the Election of Donald Trump, Reaganism is dead. Republicans rejected Reaganism because it caused their demise of communities, livelihood as well their faiths. Overall Reaganism has come to an end and good riddance. I wish Trump luck and hopefully he can bring fairness to the system.
After 3 decades, it's proven that our country cannot fully realize free trade.

Our education system not adequet in comparison to Asia and Europe that can maintain high level education standards.

Our healthcare system has become a drain on our resources, you can't have free trade when there are regulations that gives insurance and big pharma monopolies. That's anti-free trade.

And Mexico failed to improve their standard of living resulting in imbalances of trade.

Ronald Reagan turns in his grave today. Rip Reaganism 1981-2017
Reagan talked about US being a beacon of hope for the while world, and Trump is talking about American carnage, and paints a picture of US as a 3rd world hell-hole.

So, yea, it's pretty much dead.

Reagan was a great president and his accomplishments are well known, but he did have some failings. One of his worst errors was the blanket amnesty of 3 million illegals in the 1980's. It bigly sent the wrong message, not only for Hispanics to enter the country illegally, but sent the wrong message to people that hire them. It set a bad policy, repeated by every president since Reagan until last Friday. Add to that, Reagan came from California where illegal immigration would erode the voting power of his own party the most.

Reagan should have cared more about his home state and the consequences of his action on this matter. Millions of conservative Californians are now stranded with no voice, if there are any potential great leaders among them, and remember Cali has given us some strong leaders in the not so distant past, such as Nixon, Reagan & Schwarzenegger, they would have no way to rise and get elected, unless they moved. How many great leaders are we missing out on because of this? I'm sure most of them chose another occupation, and rejected a political career because that would be a futile effort in CA, mostly because of illegal immigration and buying the vote with welfare and the illegal registration of voters.
