I think if I lived in the US.. I wouldnt have voted for either Trump or Hilary.. as I dont think any of them were the right candidates at all.. going by their past Surely there were others who might have fitted the bill better..
I can't remember the number- it was something like 47 or 48 percent of all registered voters did not show up...so roughly half of all registered voters didn't even bother to come vote.
(I was a Bernie Sanders supporter, and wasn't happy with what the DNC did....but on the other hand Trump in my mind is....crazy. So I showed up to vote against him more than anything.)
Polls It looked like a high turnout when I went to vote.
There wasn't much choice, I don't know why. Trump seemed crazy to me and I don't agree with his policies. Someone needs to come up with a qualified candidate who believes in healthcare, climate change, and women's rights. But they also need to do something about illegals.

And of those eligible to vote roughly half aren't registered so only about 1/4 of those eligible actually vote
Before anyone goes into a tirade or has hysterics, that number has been pretty static for decades
My mother died several years ago at age 89. She had never voted. Not once. Her reasoning, which was true for most of her life, was that names to call for jury duty were drawn from the voter rolls and she didn't want to be called. That's changed in most states which now pull names for juries from driver's license holders.
If I thought there was any chance that Clinton would have won Tennessee I have to admit I would have voted Trump to keep her out. Since I knew Trump would win here I voted for Johnson just to send an F.U. to both the political crime families.
Most Trump voters I have talked to do not particularly like Trump; they just disliked Clinton more.
We have one of the lowest voter participation rates in the free world, and Republicans want to make it more difficult to vote. Low participation works in their favor.
