There is no "War on Cops". Largely, the Chicago PD got their little feelings hurt, and didn't like that people were critical of them, so they took their ball and went home.
Getting ambushed can hurt your feelings a bit. I can see that.
I don't know the best solution to inner city violence but if anyone can figure out what might work I think Trump/his team just might. Perhaps he could send in the military - just to stand around on every street and street corner, all day, all night, doing not much except being there, being eyes and ears and one hopes, a big deterrent (and of course, they might be forgiven if they see a horrific crime in progress and decide it is time for a bit of target practice).
Until the violence calms down, the inner cities cannot begin to recover. People have no pride or ambition in that kind of terrible environment. Even the good people live in fear .. their own, even very young, kids have been gunned down while walking to school or sitting in the living room. I truly hope that if the violence and fear are gone (or down to a dull roar), the people with a bit of help can begin to take back that pride. Perhaps idealistic but I am hopeful that under THIS president there is a chance.
I must be dreaming. This takes balls, and blacks will love it. There goes another constituency. Now I sit back and listen to all those who will claim it can't be done.
Trump says a lot on twitter. I think he gets these thoughts in his head and just tweets without thinking. What exactly do you think the feds are going to do lol And it doesn't take any balls to tweet.

Getting murdered by police can **** some nutjobs off, who then think it is up to them, to make an example out of those in blue. Add to that, the cops rarely get charged in court for any wrong doings, or get put on paid leave while the department investigates themselves.
And some of them will sing once they are looking at 20 years. Organized crime is nothing new to the feds. Send in the FBI, send in the marshals.
Some of them will not sing, some of them will give out wrong information, some has no concept of what 20 years is and don't care, some will think prison is an upgrade over their hellish lives, some think going to prison for 20 years is great for their street cred, some don't expect to live past 25 anyway.
I know these people, many are hardened people who literally is just surviving day to day in a bad environment and they often don't behave like you expect them to (a big reason they choose to live violent lives to begin with).

There is nothing organized about it!!! Basically it comes down to: someone is rattled by something, so he just picks up his gun and shoots! That's it. The violence is often unpredictable and sometimes illogical. That's why just sending in the Feds aren't going to help much.

Chicago has nothing on Baltimore. If Baltimore had the same size as Chicago there would be something like over 1600 murders in Baltimore, yet you don't hear as much about it in the news compared to Chicago. Baltimores police are so understaffed and overwhelmed that homicide in Baltimore only clears about 1/3rd of cases, far below the national average. Trump needs to send the Feds only 40 miles up the road.
Laws are broken by outlaws. That is why they are labeled outlaws.
Words are said by people. That's why they are called words.
And sometimes, words are said and it has absolutely no meaning.
