Sorry I dont understand what sales tax has to do with either impounding or taxing remittances to Mexico.

Growing food in California is a great idea.

I have one question - once you kick out the Mexican agricultural workers, who's going to pick em?

Let's be real. If Trumplings valued American products over saving money, the demand for Mexican imports wouldn't exist. Americans care about their bottom line and if prices go up, people will not be happy. No one believes that Trumplings currently boycott all Mexican or Chinese or whatever imports.
You know what some people now don't have that they once expected? Jobs, that are now in Mexico, a livable wage, higher standard of living, better public schools systems.

Its not about valuing American made products although many do, good luck finding them. Its about jobs and income and standard of living. Prices have been going up since I can remember and will continue to do so. Whats not going up, wages. Whats not increased, jobs.

I'm willing to sacrifice luxuries like out of season or exotic fruit.
I have to wonder if so much of our food is dependent on exports from Mexico, who\y is it so important that we have illegals here to harvest our produce?

The same people that did before we thought we needed illegal aliens to do it. And machinery developed through modern technology.

You don't know where the produce comes from in ketchup, tomato sauce, pizza or when you get a burger(with tomato & lettuce) at a restaurant. Frozen dinners, canned soups all can have mexican produce and you wouldn't know.

Do you consider having lettuce year round a luxury? People eat salad all 12 months in the USA.

Some of us don't eat a lot of processed foods, especially canned products. I agree that we are a minority but we still exist. I am blessed to live in a climate where local produce is available and there is a wide selection. Anyone can grow vegetables at home through hydroponic methods. For the easiest method, aerogardens can provide a wide variety of produce 365 days a year. Salads are a breeze.
