California has frequently tried to seced over the years but they might just get enough votes to do it now using Trump to fuel the cause.

"Supporters of a plan for California to secede from the union took their first formal step Monday morning, submitting a proposed ballot measure to the state attorney general’s office in the hopes of a statewide vote as soon as 2018."

They say Californians are culturally different from the rest of the country, and that national media and organizations routinely criticize Californians for being out of step with the rest of the U.S.

^I knew they'd try this again after Trump won. They are always trying to leave.
What can we do to make this happen?

It appears it will be a two step process:
First, amend the State Constitution
Second, vote on independence.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/californi...030236966.html

By the time it is all over, trump might be out of office!
It may also create more problems than it solves!
All we (those of us who do not live in or near CA) can do is sit back and watch.
It could be the best entertainment that has come from there in years!

No, CA would not pull Mexico up but rather Mexico would pull CA down as they inject their style of corruption, the increased status of the cartels, and the sheer weight of Mexico's impoverished masses who would want CA style entitlements. I'd also expect an outflow of anglos who despite their leftist leanings would not be happy being part of a country where anglos are suddenly a small minority.

You guys love to talk about little militia forces but they would be crushed like ants by an actual military with the sort of resources the CA govt has.

Furthermore, the US military is reeling as it is.
Odierno is worried that that the US military is spread far too thin - Business Insider

And let's not forget, California would have a long list of 'allies' ready to aid us, China being ally number 1.

So this is becomes a very tangled and confusing web.

Better for u to stand down and stay safe. We care after all.

LOL
Uh; you forget that most of the other states WOULD also have a piece of Calif. You people have NO Armed Forces and, IF China TRIED to step in, nukes would fly. Period.

IF I die, your kind are coming with me.

More like Mexico would be destroyed. Period. Once the rest of the US steps in.

That country is a helpless basket case; they can't stop the drug cartels. Even the cartels are afraid of the US cause it won't end well for their kind.

Mexico and gangs and cartels are already deeply involved in California and America. This was a video from a California prison, could have easily been shot in Mexico. They promise the entire prison will be behind guzman. This may has well have been shot in mexico, I bet they speak better spanish than english

You really think after all the billions and billions of dollars America spent in military spending and research in California to build silicon valley and so much of the Californian economy, the Americans would just let California secede?

The USA should be begging Mexico to take back all the land taken in the Mexican American War before climate change (even natural) makes the area unfit for more than a few thousand people. Most of California's Central Valley is very low in elevation and will be covered by the sea in a couple centuries, maybe sooner. Millions of people in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, etc are one major drought away from having no water. Millions of people could live in Michigan or Tennessee without fossil fuels, the same can not be said of the South West.

All states should be allowed to leave the USA. Countries are not permanent and people should have the right to determine their government.

CA leaving really would not be a huge event. There would still be trade and other agreements between the USA and CA.
