What's with CA's obsession with illegals?
They're like the cat lady who kept feeding stray cats until their house is is overran with them.
Yes, it feels good to feed stray cats, but smart people still don't feed them.
Running a state based on pure guilt is why CA has so many problems.

The reason I like this is because I want to see things fall apart. The country has gotten too big and politicians too controlling.

Obama and Clinton did argue for the very same things that Trump is doing but on the other hand, there would be many condemning these actions that would be calling for the same if Hillary would have won.

If California somehow does leave, though, the rest of us will no longer have to subsidize the illegals there and also the massive expenditures on things like public transportation, high speed rail, etc that taxes from rural America are redistributed to fund.

Also without California, its quite possible that the Republicans will permanently control the House of Representatives, with a big advantage in every presidential election. Without California's electoral votes, the Democrats will have to somehow flip a large number of conservative states to make up the difference and it won't be easy for them. For example I have relatives in North Carolina which the liberals wanted to flip but despite the transplants, Southern culture and values still run deep there and most people are still Christians. NC and Georgia are unlikely to flip Democrat anytime soon. And once illegal immigration is restricted, that will limit the Democrat voting bloc. Virginia has turned purple lately because of illegal immigration in NOVA but that may become reversed as the wall is built and illegal alien deportation begin.

Interestingly enough, if the South was allowed to secede, the Democrats would probably be in permanent control of the White House and Congress. Too bad y'all blew it in 1861!!!!

He hasn't had time yet, I'll grant that but I've not seen Trump speak much about doing the only things that will work. Ending federal benefits and huge fines for companies that hire illegals.

Deport them and they will come back. Build a wall and they will get around it. End the reasons to come here to start with and you get somewhere.

Until Trump does that he is just a big bag of wind just like those who came before him.

I agree, but the sanctuary cities thing flies in the face of fining companies that hires illegals. The cities have become obstructionists that seem bent on protecting illegals at all costs.
It'll require a multi step approach.

States or cities are not required to do squat. It's the federal government's problem.

What a silly "news" report from CBS. Notice this FAKE NEWS report is clueless about how they will make "California an organized non-payer" of Federal Taxes.

“California could very well become an organized non-payer,” said Willie Brown, Jr, a former speaker of the state Assembly in an interview recorded Friday for KPIX 5’s Sunday morning news. “They could recommend non-compliance with the federal tax code.”

The Majority of Californians (according to this UC Berkeley Poll) don't want these Sanctuary City policies - they are very unlikely to just stop paying Federal Taxes because California Nutters tell them to stop.

IGS poll: Californians oppose sanctuary city policies |Public Affairs UC Berkeley
Californians strongly oppose “sanctuary city” policies under which local authorities ignore federal requests to detain undocumented immigrants who have been arrested but are about to be released, according to a new poll released today by the Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) at UC Berkeley.

That opposition comes from strong majorities in both major political parties and among independent voters, and crosses other demographic categories. Almost two out of three Latinos said they oppose such policies.

74 percent of respondents said local authorities should not be able to ignore a federal request to hold a detained person who is in the country illegally. Only 26 percent of respondents said local authorities should have that right.

Opposition to the sanctuary city policies crossed the political spectrum, and included 73 percent of Democrats, 82 percent of Republicans and 71 percent of independents.

Loretta Lynch sent letters to all States that they must be in compliance with Federal Law OR they would lose their Grant Funding that pertained to Immigration - an Inspector General Report (2016) designated the top 10 Sanctuary Cities AND declared California a Sanctuary State.

None of this is new to them - they got these letters in July 2016. TeamObama chose to not make them comply with US Law, but TeamTrump is a Law & Order President.

A state taking on the feds usually does not end well for the state.

And I don't understand why you'd want to die on this particular hill, either. "Sanctuary City" isn't some kind of actual legal status. It is the legal equivalent of :

Here lies the crux of disconnect by a section of out of touch population

Protecting America isn't racist by any metric...It's sound policy..Based upon historical success

Any person who feels strongly about supporting illegals should move to the offending country and create their utopian eviron

It certainly isn't happening here

Get control of our borders before ANY conversations about allowing more dysfunction and criminals access to our country

Positions based upon the sound bites of corrupt media means those who retweet them are simply mindless bots

Think...An oxymoron for so many libs
