The Chinese are not stupid, and they have long memories. They are not our friends.

If we continue to cut back on our military, and technology, while China continues to build theirs, and develop new technologies, we'll find ourselves in the same position we were in the Pacific, 1942....... Fighting a holding action, while we hopefully gain time to catch up.

Can our current leaders remember the lessons of the past? Almost more importantly, will the American people be educated about those lessons of the past, or will they have to learn the hard way?

Our future challengers will remember those lessons, better hope we do as well.

I agree with you here but let's not discount China's history of massive implosion. It seems like every hundred years or so the whole nation tears itself apart over some new ideology and/or power struggle.

I also think we need to take the gloves off Japan, ancient enemies of China. Most people look at the horrors committed by the Japanese in China during (and prior to) WWII without factoring in the history of regular brutal invasions by China into Japan....ancient enemies indeed.

Our best bet is to hope the implosion happens soon.

Population drop death spiral is an "implosion" IMHO. China's having less and less working age people alive every year.

No, it won't, because China will be transitioning to its 3rd & 4th Level Economies, so no big deal.

What brutal invasions?

Japan wasn't attacked for 2500 years until the allies defeated them in WW II.

Trump will scrap multilateral trade deals and replace them with bilateral deals where the U.S. doesn't have to go hat in hand to the WTO in order to protest unfair trade practices and then wait forever while the WTO does nothing.

Trump will negotiate mutually beneficial bilateral trade deals with China, Russia, Britain, Mexico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the EU (for as long as that lasts.)

Everyone will be happy. Everyone will prosper.
