You miss the point--they hacked the data..not harvested. They took it..without asking. If you think that's no big deal..OK.

Did Facebook alert you to this "hack" as required by law? No? Still clinging on "hacks"?... Did the embedded cookies on websites track you where you went? I suppose you gave them permission as well... I like faux outrage... especially when its all fake...

***yawn***
If that comforts you. Did you even read the article? I thought not.
I wonder...do you have any comment on the actual thrust of the article? Perhaps some cogent commentary on the intent behind the data mining the Trump campaign was engaging in? do you think it's an OK thing to do?
I'm not 'outraged' at all--should I be? This is how I expect those seeking power to act---but I don't think it's OK.
"As the upstart voter-profiling company Cambridge Analytica prepared to wade into the 2014 American midterm elections, it had a problem. The firm had secured a $15 million investment from Robert Mercer, the wealthy Republican donor, and wooed his political adviser, Stephen K. Bannon, with the promise of tools that could identify the personalities of American voters and influence their behavior. But it did not have the data to make its new products work. So the firm harvested private information from the Facebook profiles of more than 50 million users without their permission, according to former Cambridge employees, associates and documents, making it one of the largest data leaks in the social network’s history. The breach allowed the company to exploit the private social media activity of a huge swath of the American electorate, developing techniques that underpinned its work on President Trump’s campaign in 2016."
"Christopher Wylie, who helped found Cambridge and worked there until late 2014, said of its leaders: “Rules don’t matter for them. For them, this is a war, and it’s all fair.” “They want to fight a culture war in America,” he added. “Cambridge Analytica was supposed to be the arsenal of weapons to fight that culture war.”"
Nothing burger. When the left uses FB data for the same thing its business as usual. But when their opposition uses the same data its a cause for outrage.
LOL.
BTW you don't need FB data to profile voters. The demographics alone were sufficient and that was the basis of the Trump team's strategy. It didn't rely on information gleaned from social media to execute the state-level strategy that resulted in the win.

They harvested the data. No passwords were hacked per your link. As I stated before I post nothing on Facebook I don’t want the whole world to know.
