First and foremost the Republicans did not do this for either Kagan or Sotomayor.
Secondly as I've said before the Democrats would be wise to save their political capital for the potential replacement of Ginsburg, Breyer or both.
Democrats BETTER go soft on Gorsuch. Republicans could easily return the favor (if they decide to drag Gorsuch through the mud) by ramming through another Scalia-esque judge for RBG, Breyer, or Kennedy's seat.
If "wise Latina" Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed without the nuclear option by Republicans, Gorsuch should be confirmed by Democrats without the nuclear option.
You would think that. The fact the Dems already voted for him unanimously to the appeals court says a lot.
"I think the conservatives will love him and the liberals will find very little to fault," Mark Hansen, a former partner of Gorsuch's at Kellogg Huber Hansen, told CNN. "He's an affable, collegial, unpretentious man with a good sense of humor."
Not mad either but still no one can say why he is a good choice?
It was said by Trump and Riley as well as Gorsuch...I'm paraphrasing...that he upholds the laws as they are written, he doesn't try to change the laws to suit his personal views. Riley said in that way he was much like Scalia.
I still think the Dems will do what they have been doing, foot dragging on each appointee Trump has made. Plus they are still mad that Obama's appointee for Supreme Court Judge wasn't even given a chance.
Not sure how that is Trump's fault, considering No one thought that he'd win the Presidency.
Personally, these games of tit for tat are unbecoming our Gov't. We certainly need to be remembering this in years to come when reelecting our Congressman and Senators.
McConnell has stated he will not do this however....
And he likely can't. Trump does not appear to be as smart as he thinks he is. He has likely kicked off a Constitutional crisis. And a good part of the Republican Senators understand that.
The situatlion called for a mildly centrist conservative. Trump went the other way. It is doubtful he can win but if he does he sets the hounds of hell loose. Given a democrat victory you end up with 15 guys on in USSC. And lots of other damaging garbage. It will likely end up with a new Constitution.
Be careful what you wish for. You may get it. Particularly dangerous with a minority government.
He ain't a token to fill some demographic. He does not legislate from the bench. I expect Ginsburg to keel over this year so President Trump can the play the "token" card with that seat. Maybe he will choose Judge Judy.
Democrats will be hard pressed to block this. Gorsuch was confirmed unanimously the last time around.
Awesome! He cried when Scalia died. He supports religious freedom. He is an originalist. And believes that statutes should be interpreted literally and not be based on legislative history or the purpose of the legislation.
I'm thrilled! I pray for a quick and painless process!

Looks like he is a good choice.
What a bone headed paragraph. Who cares about his humor?!? If "conservative" talking heads love him, that means he is a firm believer in expanding the legalized bribery in our political system.
