A leaked Trump order suggests he’s planning to deport more legal immigrants for using social services

President Donald Trump upended American immigration policy with three executive orders in his first week as president. He may not be done yet.

The Washington Post obtained two draft executive orders the Trump administration is reportedly considering, both of which (in title and content) resemble documents Vox wrote about and published last week.

That would be perfectly legal. Immigrants are required by law to be able to support themselves or have a sponsor that supports them. They are not permitted to use services meant for US citizens.

This doesn't not apply to work or health insurance programs.

The sponsor who sponsors these legal immigrants ( I am a not talking of refugees ) , who in most cases are siblings or parents, swears under oath that they will be responsible for the costs incurred by the immigrants for 5 years or until the immigrants become citizens. If they break that oath the sponsor can be liable and the immigrants can lose their green card status.

Someof the hyperbole created by anti Trump posters are a bit too much.

They cannot apply for Medicaid within the first 5 years. Most try anyway, since they are not able to get Medicare unless they work 40 quarters ( 10 years).

If they work and pay SS#, they are eligible for unemployment benefits.
