Look, I agree that we shouldn't be taking in many refugees. But it's not that hard to communicate that in a polite way.

He needs to be coached in tact and diplomacy.
He had 3 months to prepare, but instead he was tweeting at 3am arguing with SNL and alec baldwin...

Yep. Although I doubt it... however we are in a tight spot between China and US. These things don't help at all.

But being part of an alliance and ally - and the only nation to support US every time it's pretty distasteful to be accused of shipping the us the "next Boston bomber".
These people have been deemed refugees

Turnbull also spent the week NOT criticising trumps ban.
We all knew why he didn't & now he looks like a massive fool.

They are already keeping a lot of refugees from different countries. Australia is our ally and we need to do our part. We're only talking about 1,200 people AFAIK.

It is 1200 (apparently trump said 2000 )
- and we were to take refugees from Costa Rica - that IIRC were going to be accepted by the US. It's not like we are trying to get out of taking refugees.

There is not a shred of proof that Trump hung up on Turnbull. WaPo is the original source reporting it.
Turnbull no commented his way through the questions about it, for example - "I'm not going to comment on these reports out of the US about the conversation". A no comment doesn't make it true.

It was also reported that there were only three people in the room while Trump was on that phone call .. Stephen K. Bannon, Michael Flynn and Sean Spicer. Yeah, one of them is going to run out of the room and call up WaPo and say "you'll never guess what happened".

Trump is a sociopath and needs to be stopped. This is such dangerous territory to be alienating all our allies like this.
Israel is also one of our closest closet allies and Obama treated them like dog crap. Do we really think every phone call with foreign leaders is chummy and nice? I bet Obama had some heated discussions yet of course, the AP would never seek to publish the transcript of his calls. Remember when the mic is not on, these wonderful leaders cuss and talk crap like Biden being caught saying "it's a big *** deal".

I wouldn't be surprised if this story was completely based on fiction either.

Possibly didn't hang up on him

"Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says he is disappointed a detailed account of his fiery conversation with Donald Trump was leaked, but denied the US President hung up on him. "
Donald Trump tweets he will study 'dumb' refugee deal with Australia

Of course, Turnbull might be trying to save face.
