For one, it's less Mexicans buying say Fords, Chevrolets, etc. Even if Ford manufacturers in Mexico(and very few are 100% built in Mexico), some of that money returns to the US. The auto designers are still in the US, management is in the US, profits go to the US. Now, with new competition, not a penny will come to the US. This is just the beginning.

As the US turns it's back on it's allies/trade partners, China will step in to fill the void.

Donald Trump"s idiotic trade policies are shortsighted and detrimental to our growth.

Mexico signs $212 million deal to assemble Chinese SUVs - TOI Mobile | The Times of India Mobile Site
What the hell does this have to do with Trump? Do you think this deal was just hatched yesterday and wasn't in the making long before Trump took office? Do you think these cars are being built for re-import back into China or something? Did you think cars built specifically for the Mexican market were going to be built somewhere else if it weren't for Trump? Do you have any idea how silly you look posting stupid crap like this? Do you even care?

Good for them! As long as the USA government isn't subsidizing them I don't care what they do. If they make a good car and can compete I have no problem with them selling in the USA.

Oh please. First of all Most Mexicans can't even afford a new car, they aren't the target market. They are for export mainly. We could just as easily export autos made here IF THEY ARE MADE HERE!

If you read the article this is the announcement of the investment, and it was made yesterday, that means that they Know that Trump is pulling USA and Japanese and European Automakers to leave Mexico and invest in USA and pushing for a 35% tax on Mexican goods.

This means that Chinese investors are going for Mexican consumers, not for USA consumers, else they would invest in USA. Mexican labor is cheaper than chinese labor, that means that It is cheaper to produce cars here in MExico and export them to all the Nations with which Mexico has Trade Agreements, than make them in China it self. Besides JAC is going to be a Mexican/Chinese Investment. That puts a nationalistic spicy touch in the cars. If we mexicans want to buy mexican cars this would be an option since Ford/Chevrolet/Chrisler despite being Made in Mexico are not mexican.

GDP Annual Growth Rate in China averaged 9.76 percent from 1989 until 2016. Around 7% the last few years.

China GDP Annual Growth Rate | 1989-2017 | Data | Chart | Calendar

China is facing a declining work age population. Partnering with Mexico makes perfect sense.

Whether it makes sense for the U.S. to push Mexico to China is another matter.

You're a moron if you think that. Mexico is the 10th largest economy in the world and the #2 exporter for the US.

I love it. people like this will debate the fact that these low skilled , low wage jobs that our leaving our country are really insignificant , and that most of that stuff is automated now, so there really would be much of an impact

Yet it is the end of the world as we know it, when China opens a plant in MX...
Really, this stuff just can't be made up.
