Backs away? No, there are a million other things happening simultaneously, taking your focus away from the big picture. No one has backed away. There is just more added to the plate.
Squirrel!(and the democrats start running)
Well then, what's the status of the investigation?
I am not naive enough to proclaim that the Democrats have never committed voter fraud. But FIVE MILLION ILLEGAL VOTES?
You can't make allegations like that and then just walk away.
Well of course he can. His supporters don't care what is real, only what he says at the time, if it is convenient. Otherwise they translate what he really means. You know, since the POTUS has trouble with simple definitions of words.
In a democratic and Constitutional Republic, there's nothing more serious than suspicion of voting fraud. That puts the entire political system and organization into question. That should be the top priority by any governing politician.
If Trump's administration is putting that on the back sit, that's because the voting fraud case is certainly not serious at all...
Well, get Jeff Session in there ASAP! What's the hold up? Buying time?

If you have not learned anything yet. When Donald Trump "says", he does and gets it done.
When candidate Donald Trump claimed that the election would be “rigged,” and when President Trump now claims that the electoral process has been massively corrupted by millions of illegal votes, these false assertions have real consequences. They undermine confidence in our elections and democracy, and create a dishonest rationale for voter-suppression laws targeting the poor, the young and minorities.

Requiring photo ID, just like every American already has to have in order to function in society?
They interviewed some Berkeley students who said that blacks didn't have (and couldn't afford) photo ID, then they went to Harlem, and the blacks they interviewed said, "WTF? Of course we have photo ID, foo'!"

The Democrats are stalling Trump's attorney general confirmation. They are in charge of the time-line.
The subject here is prosecution of voter fraud, which doesn't happen through executive orders but through Justice Department prosecutions.
