hmmmmmm... can it be liberal policies? Liberals trash their state, then move to a red state and begin to trash it here with the same policies they just left .
It's because they want a big McMansion, and don't want to settle for a more modest house, nothing to do with politics I assure you
The areas that I tend to like most for living (more incidentally rather than due to their politics) are usually moderate to liberal parts of red states. In a general sense red states tend to be more affordable and easier places to live, but the more liberal sections of these states have more amenities, well-rounded economies and are easier for newcomers to fit in. The Atlanta metro area is a good example, as are Raleigh-Durham, Nashville, Austin and Salt Lake City. I'm not as drawn to communities that are too overwhelmingly skewed one way or the other (e.g. San Francisco or the rural Great Plains).
Liberal politics often includes failed housing supply controls that lead to the exorbitant real estate prices.
Desire for the housing market leads to real estate prices. If I could buy a house in Texas that was ten times the size of the one I have now, I wouldn't do it. You couldn't pay me to live in that heat and humidity.

Are you not smart enough to figure that out on your own? California is expensive. Perfect weather for most people, best beaches in the country, countless amenities, enormous wealth, hollywood and celebrities, etc. Thus there is very high demand for property, which elevates the cost of living, pushing people who are not wealthy out. Red states are cheap, because for the most part, nobody lives or wants to live in them and their amenities suck, so cost of living stays low.

You are aware California is the 6th largest economy on the planet and gives way more money to the pathetic, redneck states than it gets from the Feds right?

It is probably because California is real expensive and Texas not so much.
I'm sorta a Conservitarian, but I tend to get along with most people. I grew up in Idaho, a "conservative state" but most native Idahoans are pretty live let live, more so than Texas, where I live now. Dallas, at least the parts I hang out in are generally pretty liberal as are most of my peers and that has never been an issue for me.
I wouldn't mind living in San Francisco or NYC if the opportunity arose, but I don't think I would like living there in long term as I find them way too liberal.
I put down prefer Conservative areas, but that depends what kind of conservatives we are talking about/ will they heavily restrict me buying beer/liquor? Then again, I'd rather have annoying beer laws than Gun control.
I am liberal but I live in a hyper-conservative area. I can't move now but I do plan on moving to a more liberal area within a few years. If you are LGBT, I don't know how you can live in a conservative area (unless its a liberal city in a red state).
