It's funny that he called 'racism' a meaningless buzz word but was shocked to find that his liberal values are actually being defended by conservatives is something I find quite funny. We have no conservative party in America. Not really. The Republican and Democratic party are both liberal parties, arguably the Republican party having more in line with classical liberalism while the Democrats used to support a more modern liberalism. There is no real conservative party. The closest we have is the Constitution party, which is really just a classically liberal party. Elements of conservatism pop up here in their in the Republican, Libertarian, Constitution and even Democratic party at times. But they're all liberal.

He's a liberal, not a progressive. Most likely, he always was. Progressives are arguably a type of liberalism that values social justice usually more that what we would all liberal values, though they'd frame said social justice as a fulfillment of those values.

The modern Democratic party is not progressive either. Despite the illusion of great division, neither party is actually all that different. Both tend to have a neoliberal policy on many things. Only some of their domestic policy differs and the majority of it is superficial, like gay marriage or abortion. I know some are probably shocked that I would call these issues superficial but in all seriousness, the consequences of either are mostly made up in our heads. Strategy wise, the Democrats support interest politics more obviously, while the Republicans support corporate interests more obviously. Neither has a monopoly in the slightest in these regards.

As for Rubin's point; it's tired and I imagine we've all heard it before.

He has a solid understanding of real liberalism and he sees the flaws in the modern progressive leftist thought.

Who he's referring to are post modernists. Not progressives.

He no longer identifies as a progressive because righties are his main audience now.

Sorry, couldn't get through that crap from "Prager U"...had to quit about halfway thru because I'd decided I'd had my limit of bull twaddle from the narrator, Dave Rubin.

Dave Rubin claims to have been a "Progressive", then proceeds to give a definition of progressivism that sets up his straw man so that he may knock it down.

Dave Rubin was never a progressive...he's always been a self-described "classic liberal" (aka libertarian)...which is not and never has had anything to do with progressivism.

Watch if you want, but it's just BS propaganda.

Lol@term "regressive left" being thrown around. Rubin has been using this term aimlessly for a while now.

Progressive today means communist basically. They hate capitalism. And think we should totally destroy our economy to fight climate change, when we really don't know if that's possible, and actually know the developing countries have no intention of ruining their economies so us destroying ours won't mean diddley squat for the earth.
