That has been going on for a LONG time................Leftists HATE the concept that
the-pen-is-mightier-than-the-sword!!!
When a Yute acts-out and commits a horrific crime, the filthstream media post the story, no pics, and immediately shuts-down the comments-section of their website for that story!
I use the IMDB message boards to look up movies or actors that are somewhat obscure and unknown and had known about it for more than a decade. For that reason I will miss it. On the flip side, on a busy forum on IMDB there was a lot of crap/juvenile posts to wade through. I did post there a few times, but not regularly. I hate to see the IMDB message boards shut down just to use as a reference. I suspect Amazon is cutting the IMDB message boards to save money and maintenance.
It's been my general opinion that the online message board format has passed its prime. Social media has displaced a lot of traffic on busy forums, blogs or interactive web content like that were more popular about a decade ago. I really dislike that type of change as I do not use social media that much. Social media can be invasive, which is why I chose to use it minimally.
I'm still not sure what will replace social media as the next "big" thing online. Time will tell.
I never even knew IMDB had a message board. Wouldn't have used it if I had. IMDB is an excellent source of information and I have used it to look up all kinds of information. I have no interest in discussing movies on it.
IMDB, for whatever reasons failed to control users who logged in just to troll. It became almost pointless to post there or to try to engage in adult conversation. When a user tried to report a-holes, instead of support for the reported and obviously and purposely errant information, they were threatened with censure - I am not sure how IMDB managers came up with those policies.

This, exactly.
The internets are littered with countless numbers of once formerly-busy but now dead forums. Once parallelling groups were set up on Facebook, etc, the traffic died off on them all. I've never seen the IMDB forum so I can't say how busy it is/was, but why would the owner pay to keep it running when the users can all migrate to Facebook for free?
