So you're saying your public schools suck.

Public education is a system of indoctrination and mediocritization. And run by anachronistic collectivistic unions in cahoots with the State. The best kids are bored. The worst kids disturb the class. And the large segment in the middle is half-asleep or distracted.

Since what we have sucks, why not try something new?

With the nomination confirmed, perhaps we will.
You need to know how student success is measured in the first place. She does not know that... were you aware that she knows NOTHING about education?

That matters.

Because some of them are very, very good.

Many/most of them are not even above average when compared to public schools. Look at MI schools - the home of our Sec Ed - for plenty of evidence of this.

Vouchers or privatizing education is not some magic bullet that will miraculously fix all the problems with our education system.

The public school system needs to be turned upside down. We need someone from the outside not just another bureaucrat dragged out of the swamp. The only losers in all this will be the teachers unions.

Well, it ain't.
If Betsy a)has a few good ideas and b) is willing to actually FIGHT, then she will be a huge improvement over the Status Quo.
She's never worked a day in her life. Why start now?

You cannot see she bought this position? Have you seen how much she donated to each senator?

NYC public schools during early half of the 20th century were some of the best schools in the country. So what happened in the last quarters of the 20th century? Unions and politicians get in bed together and failing student is the result.

If public school think they deserves the money, then compete for it.

Competition always produce better result.
Do union teachers write textbooks?

Do union teachers run the teachers colleges?

Do union teachers run the state education agencies?

Do union teachers run the DOE? Elect school local boards? Hire superintendents

Laying this gross failure of public education on teacher union is a cop out. It is the contemporary American non thinkers answer.

Oh wait- I didn't.

And who's shrieking- just calling BS when I see it. Tough nails if you don't like it. Like they say- suck it up buttercup.
