Sounds like the USA except for the * universal healthcare, which is currently more fractured here.

Both Germany and the USA are successful countries politically, culturally, and economically. Thus I am always a bit mystified about these threads.

As always, the question should be why isn't North Korea or the Sudan more like Germany.

And as always, it is never asked.

* I used the German health system while I lived there. Adequate but far from boast worthy.

Because of low wages (inflation-adjusted income is shrinking since a decade!), high underemployment, and sky high taxes people in Germany have no money. So all of our great products have to be exported.

It sounds nothing like the current day USA thanks to Republicans. Germany did model their systems after ours but they did not have right wing crazies and obstructionists or trickle down bull-**** to kill it.

No right wing crazies in Germany?

You need to read up on the place.

Really? I lived quite well in the couple of years I spent in Hamburg. Although I confess I went Italian for my vehicle.

And now you are in LA. Personally, I would have stayed in Hamburg.

"Renewable energy" is working out so well that Germany now imports 2/3 of their electricity. Which is expected to increase as they continue to close nuclear plants due to political concerns.

Well, they are clearly not having an affect on the successful social safety nets and systems that are in place. And yes there are crazies in every country, but ours like to dismantle things that work.

You have the same thing here:

Unemployment Insurance
Social Security
SSI

Food Stamps/WIC
Welfare

Even our health care is more or less universal:

VA
Medicaid
Medicare
ACA/Obamacare

And there's more, much more.

You live in a Social Welfare State! Deal with it!
