I don't know how far back press briefings go, bu they are typically boring affairs where the press secretary briefs the press on the news of the day including who the president is seeing and what dignitaries are coming. This last week would have been more about the president's trip and details about it. There may have been questions about the timeline of hiring a new FBI director and if candidates were being interviewed that day.
But there are sometimes when the briefings take on new meaning and these last few weeks have been those times. I actually feel really bad for Spicer although I am reminded that he can put in his resignation anytime he wants. He's the one that has to sell this junk to a press that ain't buying.
