Good, it's not our place to dictate to other countries what they can do. Hopefully Trump decides to take his ball and go home.

It makes sense that Assad would be reluctant to trust the Trump administration. After all, the former administration destroyed his country because Assad refused to accept the petro-dollar.

Qatar and Iran share the largest natural gas field in the world. Both Qatar and Iran approached Assad with plans to build a gas pipeline through Syria. Qatar's intention is to build the pipeline through Saudi Arabia and Syria, to be offloaded in Turkey and sold in USD. Iran desires to build a pipeline through Kurdistan and then through Syria, with help from the Russians for development.

Obviously, Assad rejected Qatar, so our insane bureaucrats, such as the notorious Hillary Clinton, heavily supported by the OP, decided it was time to overthrow Assad by funding Islamic extremists and creating chaos. Additionally, a regime change would result in the Russian's forced to leave their forward operating base, which would give the US complete hegemony to continue its destructive foreign policy. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, they were unable to deter the Russians who managed to give the Assad regime assistance in quelling extremists responsible for murdering all the civilians in Syria.

The OP is clearly in support of murder or else he can provide an alternative narrative for why the US is in Syria.

Say what you want about Assad, but that interview made more sense than anything I have heard from our own politicians. "Safe zones" means you have to occupy land, which means going to war. You want safe zone? Make Syria safe the way it was. On US troops to fight terrorism in Syria, he asked how did you do in Afghanistan and Iraq? You need a strong central government to fight it.
