That was great but a bit excessive the way they took out that one person where his face hits the pavement.

Still it is nice to see that the kid gloves are off when it comes to these protesters that block streets.

Nope. This was about a mentally ill womans child freezing to death. BTW It wasnt even the first person to freeze to death hear this year, I think it was the 4th or 5th.
Good grief!

How is it that a LEFTY city can't even take care of their own? Where are the shelters? Where are the lefties opening their wallets to donate to the less fortunate? Where's that lefty compassion they're always patting themselves on the back for having?

And are we really to believe that the protesters have the time to block traffic in Portland, but somehow DON'T have the time to help people like that homeless woman and her infant? Sorry, but that's a seriously f'ed up priority and value system.

What many miss here is that we have different sets of protestors. The vast majority 99.9% are VERY peaceful. Just occasionally loud. But there is a small element that isn't. That thinks blocking public transport is a good idea, and our cops won't tolerate that. And shouldn't. Its one thing if trimet gets slowed down because of heavy foot traffic, thats a side effect, and while a hassle is OK. Its another when they intentionally block traffic.

Maybe if these people opened their own homes to the homeless during poor weather instead of limiting their "service" to slactivist blocking of busses the problem of people freezing to death would no longer be a problem.

That's awful.

Too bad I see this fact getting completely overlooked by the people in the forum.

The baby was born to a mentally ill woman living in a transient camp. The medical examiner determined that the baby was born stillborn and didn't freeze to death. Very sad story.

Did baby of homeless woman die in freezing cold or was child...

I fail to see how this tragic incident could be rectified however by blocking a city bus. Does inconveniencing innocent people somehow atone for it?

No. I think this should have been done at the city hall if they need to bring awareness to the city government.

Just what is it you expect the government to do in this situation? Hold her in a mental hospital indefinitely? Sterilize her because she spent time in a mental hospital? Track her every move once she leaves the hospital?

I think there should be a lot better funding for mental health issues, but do we want to lock these people up forever like they used to do? Or involuntarily commit them for years? What exactly is there to protest?
