As a movie buff, I care very little about the Oscars. The Oscars are not really about awarding for merit, but more for what is popular among the Oscar voters and being PC. Look at the big picture winners over the years. I'd say the majority of films are not memorable today, and overtaken in prestige/popularity by non best picture winners. I'll learn about the winners the next day out of curiousity but certainly won't watch the Oscar telecast, which I find unbearable to sit through. Watching a bunch of self-important out of touch celebrities awarding each other about how great they are is not my idea of a good time.

I'm not boycotting it, but I probably won't watch it either since I have never watched the oscars. Not interested.

So, yeah. George is still surprised.

Not me. I know Trump's "base."
Yet, Crazy Eyes Clinton and the liberals still couldn't beat him.

And, I know Hillary's 'base,' they're showing their true colors every day and I love it!

I stopped watching award shows a long time ago and it has nothing to do with boycotts. I find them very boring.

I haven't watched the Oscars in years, so I didn't vote. I think they are rather boring. Someone sent me this link; Academy president introduces politics at Oscar luncheon

The last time I watched the Oscars was when Chariots of Fire won best picture.

Does this date me?

Haven't watched them in years only because I found them rather boring.

I did enjoy when Billy Chrystal hosted them. He was very funny.

If you think I'm EVER going to see La La Land, forget it. I want to see Hacksaw Ridge and Fences, eventually.

Agree 100% with the bolded. I don't usually watch award shows either.

Agree. I'm not a big boycotter. Sometimes, I just want to go shopping, ya know? I don't really need to know Macy's political stance on everything.

Except animal testing.

Agree. I can remember my Mom refusing to watch them. "Why should I watch all those people patting each other on the back and telling each other how great they are?"

I did watch the last ones because I wanted Manchester by the Sea to win; but they usually just don't hold my interest.

I haven't watched them in years. I have no interest watching actors patting themselves on the back.
