They do receive certain benefits, but they also contribute in form of taxes and services.
In 1975 I was a foreman on a crew on the railroad. Of the 27 men under me, at least 20 of them were illegal Mexicans. They all had fake ID's. On their W-4 forms they claimed married with the maximum number of dependents {forgot the limit......like 10 children?}.Thus they had little or no tax deducted from their pay. Because in the winter they all went back to mexico when laid off. They did not file taxes, and returned next spring when called back to work.
They pay sales, income and property taxes. According to Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy 50 percent of undocumented immigrant households file income tax returns using Individual Tax Identification Numbers. Many other illegals have taxes deducted from their paychecks even of they don't file taxes.
Seems there is so much misinformation out there and I thought I would ask here before looking on specific pages.
Question:
Do illegal immigrants receive any type of financial benefit from the government? My understanding is no. Thus, they are not hurting the taxpayers in this regard. This includes the children. In order to get Medicaid (or other) they need to become citizens and then apply through the standard process. However, there are non-profit organizations that handle the well being of these immigrants. I'm not sure how these non-profits get their funding. This doesn't mean they are living in the Ritz-Carlton but more along the lines of a makeshift harbor with beds, bathrooms, etc. Does anyone know if this is accurate?
Also, in regards to hospitals (ER) when an illegal goes there they aren't turned away. I know the hospital gets a writeoff for tax purposes but how do they go funded for people that obviously do not have insurance?
As usual, it is hard to know what is truth and what is fiction. Thus I thought I would ask here.
It would be nice to get the facts before spewing off as there is always a lot of misinformation.

How could illegals own property that would require property tax?
They run underground, illegal, and unlicensed companies that pay no corporate, income, or payroll taxes, and employ illegals who also pay no taxes.
