Some people don't have stoves. You can't prepare food from scratch if you're homeless or live in a slum somewhere with no working stove.

I'm homeless right now. Been eating a lot of Vienna sausages and cheap potato chips. Some of the offices at the hospital have water coolers and I've been sneaking in and filling up my bottle of water.

When I wasn't homeless I lived in an apartment with a broke down stove and the LL didn't want to fix it. I relied on microwave foods.

People assume everyone has a stove and can cook from scratch.
